[NOTICE][Not a Release] BAD NEWS! PC RIP!! :(

So the worst actually came. My PC is dead completely. Rekt. BSOD. The bad news for you guys is that I’ll be going on hiatus from translating till I somehow collect enough money to buy a new PC. I am a student so obviously I’m still living on my parents money so I’ll have to plead them till I can convince them to buy me a new one. And that takes a hell lot of time!!

And since I want to buy a high end PC for gaming purposes, it’ll take even longer since they are really costly here. I have to import separate parts and then assemble it all. It’s a pain but I have to do it.

So anyway, both KnM and KENS will be going on hiatus till I buy a new one. You can plead ET for KnM tho. :p

Also, be sure to light a candle, incense, or keep 3 sec silence for my partner PC that finally took its last breaths after staying with me for the past 6 years!! I’ll miss you my friend. *cries over the CPU box*

EDIT- On the advice of my readers, I have put up a temp part in the Donations by the side showing how much I have collected for getting my new PC. If you can please consider supporting as it’ll get me back to translating faster! You have my heartfelt thanks!

Also, for those wondering, I made this post from my friend’s PC. Yes I have such people!

Till we meet again my friends.

  1. So what is actually broken? HDD? RAM? Chipset? Or just some capacitors? By the way, microsoft issued some BSOD causing update a few days ago… Why not just replace/repair/reinstall something?

    • HDD and RAM is the main problem. But the whole thing has become very old so I’m going to buy a new one cuz almost everything is on the verge of dying. I think even my processor won’t last long….

      • No, processors are almost unbreakable. I saw only one really dead CPU in my life (i do repairs for 10 years), the guy polished it (with machine). And another one was with chipped crystal, but everything worked perfectly, except Microsoft Office, somehow.

        • usually when people think their proc is dying, what’s dying is the motherboard

that, or he, by some means, broke some of the proc’s pin, lol

        • Saw an AMD were the fan went bust and failed to thermal throttle…
Saw an older one were they bent a few pins and ended up shaving them off thinking that the others would make up the difference..

  3. I suggest you look at Lenovo since they have good graphic cards. Also, do not get an Acer since their laptops/computers are more for music and videos than gaming. Their graphic cards are not that great. Do some research on what graphic card you want like “NVIDIA GEFORCE” and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF VIDEO RAM. Video ram is the most important since it runs the game, meaning the more you have, the less lag. Hope this helps.

    • Nvidia doing really fragile chips recently… You’d better look at AMD. And video RAM is NOT most important. You can attach 2GB to Nvidia MX440 chip and what?

      • Yah I never go for OEM pcs as they usual don’t last as long as built computers do in my experience (Built my PC in 2011 and its still chugging along just fine for gaming and other tasks while all the other computers at my house witch are newer required fixing after some time)

    • Excuse me sir, not everyone is from the US.

That is why he said he need to import the good stuff.
Buying from US+oversea shpping is also not an option since the shipping price is ridiculous.

    • but sir, there are three critical flaws with your argument:
      1: alienware is overpriced
2: alienware is a part of dell, who reuse computer parts in new computers
3: you said “you won’t ever need to buy a new one”, however, this product clearly states it has a warranty of only 1 year, while most quality computer parts will have a warranty of either 2 or 3 years

  4. No parent would buy you a high end pc if they know it is used for gaming… unless the family is rich!!
For a normal ones though, an excuse like, you need em for school assignments will do fine. Just remember to find a subject that “needs” a lot of computer power. Lol
Since youre getting lazy tling anyway, why not just drop the project and give em to et altogather..

  5. HaHa! That’s what you get for translating such a depressing story! /jk

Maybe try to fix it instead of get a whole new one. You might even be able to scavenge some parts for your new one, like the cd-drive, they don’t change much.

Don’t fall for the trap and buy a completed one, much cheaper to buy parts and assemble your own.

  6. Ok, my suggestions, based on my current PC:
CPU – AMD Athlon X4 860K Black Edition
    Chipset – AMD A88X or A68H chipset
    Video – Radeon R7, R9, 2-4GB GDDR5 – you can buy it later.
HDD – Western Digital Black or Red series
    SSD – SmartBuy Ignition 2
RAM – any cheap DDR3, that can run at 2133MHz. I cannot recommend Corsair and Kingston (mine is some Samsung rated at 1333, but runs at 2133 without heatsink, throughput got up about 1,5 times).
Cooler – I’m happy with myCooler Master Hyper 103 PWM. It’s powerful, silent and small.
Thermal compound – Arctic Cooling MX2 or MX4.
Other coolers – anything by ArcticCooling. Cheap, silent, most powerful.

      • CPU x4 860k, MB Asrock with A68H chipset, RAM 2x4Gb, HDD WD Black 1TB, SSD Ignition2 120GB, Cooler Master Hyper 103 – about 350USD in Russia now.
Moreover, i did buy discounted motherboard (without package and stuff) and processor (without 2 legs), that saved me good 60$.
Good video card (well, not top) – about 150-200$
        Good 500W power supply – 50-70$
        Good case – from 50$
Well, you can exclude something unnecessary for now, like SSD.

  7. Stick up a paypal donation thing to fund towards a new computer, you might be surprised by how many people will be willing to donate a fiver to get you back to translating again.

  8. Yea you really should start a donation countdown to buy your new computer, this novel is one of the few I enjoy reading everyday in my busy life and this news is really bad for me so I am prepared to donate and I am sure other people are also the same

  9. Whatever you plan for next pc, you will need ssd, and it might be highest cost part. And if you assemble high spec parts, make sure you get good PSU and motherboard. They can be more important than your CPU and GPU, as PSU and Motherboard basically limit other components.

  10. Might I recommend buying from the USA via proxy? If you can get an American reader to buy the parts at their cheaper rate and then bulk ship, you would get a much better price. Just transfer the value to them via PayPal after you work things out.

    • Actually, if you’re interested in that, feel free to email me. I build computers regularly, and I’m pretty experienced with international shipping. Translating gets you friends in far places lol

  11. I’ve only seen unnaturally burn processors in my life. one, my friend fried by removing the heatsink. went up in smoke. two, i killed my over overclocking, i7 970 hex core intel, pushed for 4.4ghz from 2.93, 4 ghz stable (still have it today – RMA-ed twice)

Currently, my main laptop is a Lenovo W530 I7 quad core 3740 QM 32GB Ram 3TB SSD (3x1tb samsung SSD) and a Quadro K2000m. Faster than most desktops. served me well when i went to china, malaysia and australia on vacation.

Main desktop is basically hilariously 5 years old. I7 970 hex core @ 4 ghz 24GB Ram tri channel, 6x4TB HDD 256GB SSD 2x 7970 Crossfire, hooked up to 5.1 surround sound and 3×24 inch LCD. 3x Watercoolers (1 per GPU + 240mm on CPU)

My philosophy: Buy a big desktop, have it last forever (unless you do something like over overclocking) – still on the same motherboard even if i fried two CPUs.

Ironically, i interchange my desktop and laptop because really, the main difference is only in gaming / video card and my laptop can be hooked up to my three 24 inch LCDs. just moved so no picture yet.

I Still had my e8400 cpu and my q9650 until a month ago. computers last forever as long as you get rid of the cancers early. as for hard drive, i have 6x4tb because they all run in raid-1 in case of faillure. – Learned the hard way.

GL and hope you get a new pc soon so we can haz more translations! ❤

    • I had really old Pentium3 600Mhz/192MB Ram PC as home test server/NAS with 6TB HDD. It works 24/7/365 for about 6 years. I just replaced capacitors once, and keep adding controllers and HDDs.

      • iForgot, there is one really good thing about that old PC – motherboard can start without graphic card. Not that it matters for me… but it’s really strange guys, why modern PCs cannot run without graphic card? Why i should waste money and electricity for something i will not use 99,999999% of time?

  12. Congrats this poor bastard sent you $10. I like the story enough to spare a little bit. Now all you need is some more sad/pity money or more people who want to whip you back into translating to send some to and you’d be set up real quick…. well… shipping times aside…
But yeah best of luck to ya

  13. RIP….
anyway, if you still looking for self-assembled pc for gaming, here’s my spec from my own rig :
    Processor Intel i3-4130
    Motherboard ASRock B85M-HDS
RAM Team Elite Plus DDR3 4GB
GPU HIS Radeon HD R9 270x
    HDD WD Carviar Blue 1TB
PowerSupply FSP Hexa Plus 500w 80

All cost around $470 (without the case). you can upgrade RAM later, or change HDD to SSD with same price if you don’t mind storage size.
i got all of those parts in my country (indonesia), with similar location in south asia, you should be able to get those too without shipping from other country.

    Good luck sir…..

    • woah, with $500 you can already get pc like mine, and it can play up to cod advanced warfare and battlefield 4 in ultra setting, with single screen though.

      • I sell i5 computers with mid range graphics card at 500 dollars. Lol. 800 gets you somewhere around the mid high end and the true high end is around 2000 dollars. Like a gtx 980 ti or dual gtx970 in sli. Gear like that. These options are 1000$ and more if you consider needing a decent power supply.

        Like

        • lol, agreed. if we talking about true high-end then $500 will only get the case. but it never crossed my mind since we talking about student pocket money, and $500 is the highest-affordable (i got mine from my 3 years saving from high school days though).
