A Strange Fact

“Understood. If that’s the case, I’ll be more than happy to assist you.”

The next place I visited was the town house owned by Earl Andersen.

I wasn’t that worried but, even so, I’m glad the Earl easily accep——

“However, I do have one condition.”

………..I guess it can never be that straightforward huh.

Well, Earl Andersen was well known to be an old sly fox, she would never miss out on a chance to make extra profit……..

“And, what is this condition?”

“Why of course, I would simply like you to officially accept the Andersen family as a backer to your cause, Prince Rudolf.”

“Eh…………?”

Her answer was so unexpected that I inadvertently leaked a silly sound.

No, I mean, Sheila was already sounding very happy the other day during lunch after officially becoming a part of my faction so I thought, that was already the case though?

I looked at Sheila, hoping to get some clarification.

“my oh my, I did hear from Sheila that [she was happy to become a part of Prince Rudolf and Lady Lizbeth’s faction] but, you still do need to formally sign off on it, don’t you think?”

“Ahaha, I agree as well.”

I guess so. Back then, we were simply talking and getting all excited by ourselves.

“That’s how it is so, once again, we’ll be in your care.”

“Likewise, please look after me.”

Me and Earl Andersen shook hands with each other.

“ehehe, now I’m officially Lady Lizbeth’s comrade!”

“fufu, Miss Sheila, you have always been my comrade……no, my friend, though?”

“Lady Lizbeth…..!!!”

Yep yep, I’m glad to see these two getting along so well but, now I’m really starting to get worried when and where Sheila might actually go berserk.

For now, I’ll simply keep a watchful eye on her to make sure it doesn’t turn into something serious.

“Then, we’ll take our leave here.”

“Of course. Thank you for coming all the way.”

“Lady Lizbeth, see you again at school!”

“Indeed, let us meet again.”

Seen off by Lady Andersen and Sheila, we finally headed to our last destination. The Fahlcrantz household.

“I wonder if Anne’s interrogation is over or not……..”

“I think, it’s probably not done yet. She too was a spy of the Fahlcrantz family after all.”

Hailing from the very same Fahlcrantz family herself, I suppose Liz knew better than anyone just what kind of people, her family’s spies were.

And if she says that, then it must be true.

“Then, today we’ll only be making a request to ask him to become the head of our faction then.”

“Yes.”

And with that, the groundwork for my faction will be done.

From here onwards, we’ll work together with Fredrik’s camp, to take down Wilhelm and Oscar.

“Lord Rudy, what do you plan on doing next?”

“Well, it depends  a lot on Maya’s investigation results but, first, we need to catch Wilhelm by his tail. And then, we will bury him, so deep that he can never appear again.”

Judging from how he was gathering up the ex-robin faction members as well, it was clear that that man was planning something sinister in the background.

There’s even a chance that, the promise of support wasn’t even real, and maybe even the sealed letters were fakes created by Wilhelm by himself.

In that case, I’ll be able to publicly denounce him and he’ll have to face severe punishment from his own family as well for acting out on his own.

And if that happens, he’ll forever become unable to gain any power within this country.

“………Lord Rudy, when that man loses his standing as well as status as a noble, I implore you to please allow me to deal the finishing blow.”

“Liz………?”

Her aquamarine eyes were filled with resolve and determination, as Liz petitioned me.

This [finishing blow] she spoke of was I assume to remove him from this world’s forefront…….no perhaps, from the world of the living entirely I think.

After all this was the very same Liz that assassinated me…….the tyrant Rudolf Fürst Baldyk in the story of the [War Records of Wilhelm].

In that case.

“I’m truly sorry but, I cannot allow that.”

“But why!?”

She must not have expected me to reject her.

Liz leaned forward and drew closer to me.

“It’s very obvious why. I will not accept letting my Liz dirty her hands for the sake of that lowly man . And besides, that………is MY duty.”

“Lord Rudy!”

That’s right………it’s my job to fix the horrible history that was once created by Wilhelm with my own two hands.

The hands of the once dead Tyrant.

“That is one thing, I will not budge on, even if it’s you asking it Liz.”

“!!………Lord Rudy, you really are a stubborn one.”

“Certainly not as much as you are.”

Liz turned her face away feeling frustrated, and I spat some rare sarcasm at her as well.

“……….very well. That man…….I will entrust that man,…… Wilhelm’s fate to you, Lord Rudy.”

“Thank you……..”

Having sense my resolve, Liz reluctantly backed down.

And seeing my beloved Fiancée like that, I could only bow to her with respect.

And then.

“we’re here.”

“yes.”

The carriage stopped in front of the Fahlcrantz mansion, and I got down first, then giving my hand to help Liz get down next.

When.

“Prince Rudolf, we were waiting for you. And welcome back, Lizbeth.”

The one who greeted us was Lady Teresa.

But, perhaps because of the matter with Anne, her expression seemed dark.

“Mother……..did something happen?”

“……….Let’s get inside first.”

We were led inside the mansion by Lady Teresa.

“About Anne, well……….we found out that she had been involved with some banned drugs it seems.”
